How to use this Pay Stub Generator in Connecticut
Enter the employer and employee exactly as they appear on payroll records, choose the pay frequency, and enter hours and rate or the salary for the period. Mark bonuses or commissions as non-discretionary so overtime is paid on the correct regular rate. Federal tax, Social Security and Medicare are computed from the 2026 tables; Connecticut state tax is entered from your payroll records. Employee-paid state programs are added automatically.
In the Year-to-date step, enter prior YTD amounts from your payroll records so cumulative totals match earlier stubs; the estimate option projects regular earnings only and is labeled as an estimate. Certify the figures, download the PDF, keep a copy in your payroll file for at least three years, and give the employee a copy each payday.
Frequently asked questions
Does this pay stub include Connecticut state tax?
Connecticut uses progressive withholding tables. Enter the state amount from your payroll records or the state withholding calculator; federal tax, Social Security and Medicare and CT Paid Leave are still calculated automatically.
Can I generate several months of pay stubs at once?
Yes. Choose the number of pay stubs (1–12) in the pay-period step. The dates you enter describe the most recent period; earlier periods are generated backwards at your pay frequency — weekly, bi-weekly, semi-monthly (1st–15th and 16th–end of month) or monthly — and a generated pay date that lands on a weekend or federal holiday moves to the previous business day. Year-to-date totals chain from one statement to the next and restart on January 1. All of them arrive as one PDF (and one Word file) for the same $6.99 — there is no per-stub charge.
Is a generated pay stub legal?
Yes, when it reflects wages actually paid. Employers and self-employed people use pay stub generators to issue the itemized statement most states require. Every stub prints who prepared it and when, and you must certify that the figures reflect actual payroll. Creating a stub for income you did not receive to deceive a lender or landlord is fraud.
How is federal withholding calculated?
Using the 2026 IRS Publication 15-T percentage method: wages are annualized, the standard deduction for your W-4 filing status is applied, tax is computed at the 2026 brackets, reduced by Step 3 dependents, and divided by pay periods; Step 4(c) extra withholding is added.
How are year-to-date totals handled?
Enter prior YTD amounts from your payroll records (recommended). If you choose the estimate instead, only regular earnings are projected over the prior periods — bonuses, commissions and overtime are never multiplied — the column is labeled as an estimate, and you must confirm it matches your records.
Can I use it for an independent contractor?
Yes — tick the 1099 option. The document becomes a contractor payment statement with no withholding lines and a Form 1099-NEC note ($2,000 reporting threshold for 2026).
