How to use this Move-In / Move-Out Checklist in Massachusetts

Walk the unit together before any boxes come in. Mark every item, write defects in words, and take dated photos of each one — in Massachusetts landlord who takes a deposit must give the tenant a signed statement of condition within 10 days of move-in; the tenant has 15 days to return it with any disagreements (M.G.L. c. 186, § 15B(2)(c)).
