How to use this Bill of Sale in US
Fill in the VIN exactly as it appears on the title, record the odometer in whole miles, and have both parties sign two originals — one each. If your state requires notarization, sign in front of the notary, not before. The Texas title assignment is not notarized; a gift transfer requires notarized Form 14-317 (Affidavit of Motor Vehicle Gift Transfer).
Sellers: remove your plates if your state requires it and file a release of liability with the DMV. Buyers: apply for title and registration promptly (within 30 days) and insure the vehicle before driving it. Buyer pays 6.25% motor vehicle sales tax on the greater of purchase price or 80% of Standard Presumptive Value to the county tax assessor-collector at titling (Tex. Tax Code § 152.0412).
